This week Alex and Lukas started at Oliver's preschool. Lena and I had taken them three times in the last two weeks for a playdate (staying for circle time and snack time in their new classroom), and I was a bit worried about how they were going to do. I had foolishly thought that all those drop-offs where they had accompanied me to drop Oliver would help us, but they actually worked against us, because the boys just wanted to play in the room they had become accustomed to playing in and didn't want to go into the room that was actually their classroom.

As you can see, I didn't have much luck taking a photo of all three of them outside the school. The only way to get them all to sit for the shot was to take a selfie and even that isn't a fabulous shot.
Their preschool is on the third floor of the church -- lots of stairs, and normally, I'm stuck carrying Lukas and the lunches.
I got this sweet message from the Director of the school on Tuesday morning:
I know you feel "No news is good news", but I just wanted to let you know all of your guys doing very well. Lukas and Alex are having fun, but not always thrilled about transitioning from something they are enjoying. Oliver was a wonderful big brother and stayed with them until he went to circle in Pre-K. Yeah,
Lena reported that they both seemed happy when she picked them up and that Alex came running into her arms and immediately started saying "Anna! Anna! Home! Home!" (He can't say Lena yet, though he can correctly pronounce Lukas).
The transition into their classroom was easier today. Phew! As I left, there were no tears from anyone and Oliver was happily sitting with them in the "Twos" class, wanting to watch over his brothers until circle time.
I was pretty proud of myself for having gotten this crew in to school before 8:15am -- it's no small feat to get them all fed, dressed, and out the door, without forgetting anything. And it's over a mile walk. Now if this damn heatwave would just end -- I needed a shower by the time I made it into the office!
The biggest drawback about all three in preschool is having the make THREE lunches twice a week. But look how cute the twin's lunchboxes from Omi are!
