First Zoo Outing of the Season

Lauren & I made a playdate for Adam & Milton to play golf last Saturday (both families are so busy, this is the only way it will make it on the calendar).  So, she & I packed up the lil' boys and headed off to keep busy at the zoo while the Daddy's were on the golf course.

This is how I get around - babies in the double stroller with Oliver on the glider board.  I always have the baby carrier with me, so if Oliver wants a seat, I can switch things up.  The carrier is also handy for going on the carousel, or holding a baby that won't sit, while trying to feed Oliver lunch.  We were quite a sight!  

The zoo was unusually empty when we got there, so we partook in zoo activities that usually have a line, that are free with our membership, but we haven't really done -- zoo train was a big hit!  Amazingly, 2 mommas and 4 kids actually fit inside one car!  We also went on the swan boats (I didn't realize I would have to paddle when I volunteered to take the big kids) and, of course, the carousel!  

Around the house....

For a long time, the camera on my cell phone wasn't working.  I recently swiped the (not being used) au pair phone, and am so happy to be able to snap photos to capture cute moments around the house.  Haven't you been missing those POTDs? 

This weekend.... Alex refused to let us feed him.  Oliver was such a neat eater as a baby, we never had a single instance of needing to dunk him in the tub because he dumped a bowl of spaghetti on his head... if we make it another week before that happens with Alex, I will be impressed. 

Oliver goes through phases of playing certain make-believe games.  The latest favorite is playing doctor.  Interestingly, no matter what the ailment, each patient gets a shot to cure them of their injury!

How cute is he!?!  This is how Oliver was dressed on the way to the liquor store with me yesterday.  He managed to splash through every puddle on the way there and back - toddler delight!

On Friday, we went with Lauren & Mason to get frozen yogurt and then decided to check on a local park that had just underwent a renovation.  Oh the grass... heavenly, lush grass (and no dogs allowed!).  The babies happy crawled around, while Mason got himself drenched in water.  Oliver watched from a safe distance, not wanting to get wet.

It's been a lot of work teaching Oliver to be nice to the babies, ever since they have become mobile and regularly get their hands on his toys.  That makes it all the more special, when I catch moments of him being sweet to them.

Soccer Star

Oliver is back in soccer this Spring.  He had so much fun last year and I'm glad that he's having even more fun this time around.  I'm especially working from home on Wednesdays so I can tag along for soccer and Mason, the 2 year old son of our good friends that live down the block, is also enrolled in the class.  It's pretty amazing to see the difference between Mason, who is probably the youngest in the class (just like Oliver was last year), and Oliver, who is now a veteran.   

                     The coaches do a great job of engaging the kids and each week the soccer class has a different theme... they've gone looking for wild animals, into outerspace, and on a pirate adventure. 

"K" and the babies go to the playground after nap and we meet them there after soccer.  They make pretty cute fans!

POTD: Mommy's Juggling Act

I had Adam take this photo of me this AM.  I had just gotten back from the gym (5:30am session with the trainer) and both babies insisted on being held by me, after having hung out with Adam since they woke up just after I left (and I especially take an early slot, to minimize the work for Adam in my absence).  I was joking with Adam that I was especially insane today, because before I left for the gym, I got the crockpot started with some baby food.  Life is pretty busy in this house, gotta squeeze stuff in during every free moment I've got!

Also today, Adam had a poop adventure!  He changed Alex's poopie diaper and put it on my side table thinking it was out of reach.  He got out of the shower to find Lukas playing with a big lump of it.  While he was cleaning up Lukas, Alex managed to get into the fun as well.  Great way to start the day!  Good thing it was a hard poop and not a finger painting project that needed to be cleaned up (I don't even want to think about how much of a mess they could have really made!).  Was that story TMI???
