Oliver's birthday festivities actually began the day before his birthday. I arranged with daycare to come in with a treat for the class and have a small celebration. I was so disappointed once I realized a few days beforehand that I had a business meeting in the suburbs that morning. Pauline went solo and reported that Oliver spent the entire time asking "Go home now?", wile the other kids enjoyed the party. We brought in homemade mini-zuchini muffins with a cream cheese frosting that were apparently a big hit - no easy feat coming up with a fun, yet somewhat nutrious, morning snack!

I worked from home, and was able to pick up Oliver & Pauline from gymnastics class. There is this adorable french crepiere around the corner from the gymnastics class that Pauline and I have been meaning to go to, so since Oliver was in a good mood, we headed there for lunch. Oliver INHALED a whole adult-potion of a banana crepe. Pauline & I had some pretty tasty crepes too!
When Daddy got home from work, we opened Oliver's present from him. This year, we opted to each get him our own present, since we each had an idea that had to do with our own hobby. Adam has been teaching Oliver how to swing a golf club using a plastic ladle - it was time for an upgrade.
We were both surprised by how quickly Oliver was able to adjust to the longer club. I'm still a bit worried that our basement TV will survive these golf lessons. Oliver enjoyed running around with the golf bag as much as he liked swinging clubs.
We ended the day with a family outing to our favorite local kid-friendly pizza place, where Oliver enjoyed a dinner of white bread!
