The first weekend in August was Sportsfest - My favorite weekend of the summer! Pauline & I drove up with the boys on Friday afternoon and got us situated for the weekend. We even managed to squeeze in a trip to the pool for Pauline to lay in the sun and Oliver to play in the sand, before Oliver & I ran a bunch of errands. Adam & Nicole/Devon joined us later in the evening. We enjoyed a low key day on Saturday and then on Sunday our family was around to hang out at the pool, visit with old friends, and have dinner together.
Photos from Friday (not bad for my cellphone)
Lots and lots of photos after the page break
Omi arrived on Sunday with coffee for the big kids and Munchkin's for the lil' ones. Those that know my mom (who eats ZERO takeout and NEVER stops at fast food places) will especially enjoy the humor of this photo. We have been stopping at Dunkin' on our way from Philly to the SSC when we come up on Saturday mornings, so Oliver recognized the box of treats immediately.
Adam had been with the twins all day on Saturday, so I was on deck on Sunday. With my mom wanting to spend time with the babies and plenty of family friends looking for some baby-lovin', I pretty much had the afternoon off - no complaints here!
After an afternoon at the pool that went by too fast, we headed back to the bungalow (with our fabulous porch!) for an early family dinner of fajitas, which is likely to become the new Sportsfest family dinner, since it was such a hit. We had done a similar family dinner (white trash style) last year.
The big kids were content playing in the gravel just off of the porch. They are still mainly in parallel-play mode. Oliver spent most of the time keeping the other two away from his new, beloved truck. The boys apparently fought over a play screwdriver and there was a rock-throwing incident, but all in all, they are really good around one another.
Next year we are going to need to install a baby gate at the top of the porch steps so that these three won't escape. We thought it was hectic keeping tabs on all SIX boys this year... next year, with three crawling/pulling up/possibly walking boys will be even more challenging!
After dinner, Coach/Uncle Sergio took the boys down to the field to burn off some energy before everyone got a bath on the porch and packed up to go. Crazy thunderstorms sent all of us into the bungalow before we were ready to call it a night.... upside though, is that thunderstorms are a great incentive to get everyone quickly help out cleaning up!
I wasn't up for the rushed exit and hectic bungalow clean-up, so Pauline & the boys and I spent another night at the club and left on Monday. We found time for a quick swim before heading out too.
Here's Oliver keeping an eye on the boys for us while Pauline & I clean up. How cute! Can't wait to do it all over again next year!
