Alex was the smallest when he was first born, but by the second month check-up had passed Lukas in weight. We occassionally call him Bubba Jr. Oliver was the original Bubba, since he was a bit of a chunker early on too (all that changed when he started crawling - at 5 months!). Alex is in a lower weight percentile than Oliver was at this age, but seems have more fat rolls. Or maybe he's just got a dirtier neck so I'm more aware of them!
Alex is happiest when he is where all the action is. If Pauline or I are in the kitchen, he likes to be in a baby seat close by watching what we are doing. He's generally unphased by Oliver's antics.
For the first two months, Alex was the more challenging kid, generally more fussy and demanding. Thankfully, that isn't the case any longer and both babies are pretty good natured. The trick now is identifying that he is crying because he is tired and needs to be relocated to a quiet room to get some sleep. Alex takes longer naps than Lukas, though he struggles to fall asleep - something we are working on.
Alex is all smiles and lately he's very chatty. I had forgotten this phase - all the talking is pretty darn cute! Considerably less cute is Alex's disposition in the car - just like big brother Oliver, Alex can be a real pain in the butt. We always put him in the second row, so we can shove a pacifer back in his mouth easily. How did we end up with 2 out of 3 kids hating the car when 95% of babies LOVE being lulled to sleep in a moving vehicle!
Both babies are starting to scoot around, turning themselves in quarter turns when they lay on the floor, but Alex is definitely more active. Sometimes I come in to their bedroom to find that he is trying to suffocate Lukas with his feet. Unfortunately, it looks like it won't be long before we are putting them in seperate cribs.
Adam took this photo just a few days after we were home from the hospital. Check out the position Alex was sleeping in! He was frank breech, which meant that his feet were up near his head for about 10 weeks. It took him a couple of weeks to straighten out.
