Last weekend we did our annual gardening project - this is the sixth year that I have planters/window boxes filled with herbs and veggies. I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't have the energy to get real flowerbeds added on the patio, but we have a lot going on with babies on the way and the bungalow deck. Lately, Oliver is happiest doing anything that involved water, so this project was right up his alley. Squeezing out the rag to "wash" the inside of a planter was a big hit, and he was wet, and pantless in no time (such a cute toddler look).
Adam did a fabulous job with the hanging planters and they really make the patio look nice. This year, we've planted jalepenos, tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers (all shown below), along with a ton of basel (for pesto) and a bunch of herbs. To get Oliver excited about gardening, we also planted strawberries and our first berries are already turning red. Recently, after work, Oliver "helps" me keep the plants watered - he really loves using the hose to fill the watering can.
