Alex - 2 1/4 year update

Of course, I'm a little behind on these kid specific updates (here's the last one).  These photos were taken in July at my new favorite playground in our neighborhood.

Alex remain our loud, happy-go-lucky kid.  He's a little ball of laughs and had this awesome belly-laugh he does -- you can't not smile/laugh when you here him laugh.  Happy or sad, he has no volume button, gee, where did he get that from?

Alex got a clean bill of health at his two year check-up.  He remains in the 15-25% percentile for height and weight.  He's still a picky eater (limited dinner options - pizza, pasta and the occasional biteful of food off of one of our plates).

Alex is in a phase where he mimics EVERYTHING that Oliver does.  It is simultaneously adorable and irritating.  More irritating for Oliver than us, because it limits what he can do.  Things he would ordinarily want to do (climbing up on the counter) are limited because we don't want Alex falling off.  It's typical big brother/little brother stuff.  Most annoying for me: when Oliver is making an irritating noise/sound, Alex will start up before I can get Oliver to cut it out.  And I wonder why it is so loud in our house!

Lately, when the get up in the morning before the light goes off, I have been trying to keep them in the room.  Whichever lil' one is up first snuggles with me while the others sleep.  Alex has been wanting to crawl into Oliver's bed during this time.  They are going to do great sharing a room together in the new house!

Alex has two favorite words that he uses all the time: Tunnel & Dinosaur.  Any hole or dark place is a tunnel.  Any animal or creature that isn't an easily identifiable farm animal, is a dinosaur.

Alex LOVES to take selfies!

Alex is good-natured and the most fun when it comes to things like water-gun fights - he doesn't mind getting soaked and his day isn't ruined if you get some water in his eyes.  He's great at rolling with the punches.
