9 Months! 9 Months!!!

Life is very different in our house these days... in a good way!  We have babies on the move that are starting to show us their personalities!  They chase after us down the hallway, squawk when a brother steals their toy and like to "talk" to us.  Also, we now get the occasional morning when all three sleep past 6am - heaven! Unfortunately, evenings continue to be pretty brutal, since they are both still lousy nappers.  Surprisingly, there isn't a single tooth between the two of them.

They are both lil' peanuts - Alex is in the 15-20% percentile for weight and Lukas is only in the 5-10% percentile -- interestingly, there is just under a pound of difference between them.  Both continue to trend along the same growth line, so the doctor tells us we have nothing to worry about.

Always fun to reminisce and see what Oliver was like at this age.  No surprise that the babies remain developmentally behind their big brother.  They can pull themselves up on things, but that's a very new skill and they aren't doing it all over the place yet.  They don't really have an interest in walking when we hold their hands and haven't tried to "cruise" either.
Alex has abandoned the army-crawl-move and can be a speedy crawler.  He's the first to make a break for it if you leave the door to a room open and I'm surprised he hasn't fallen off our bed yet.  He also tends to get into more mischief (interested in what is in our garbage can, digging in plants, etc.)  Alex has also climbed up onto the first step --  time for more baby gates.  He continues to be the better eater and we're finally at the point where I can throw much stuff on the highchair to keep him entertained while I'm in the kitchen.  He gives the cutest little hugs (well, he leans in to snuggle on your arm) when we pick him up in the morning, or after we get back to work.  Alex is a bit clingy and will cry if we leave the room.  Apparently, while I was gone on a business trip last week, he spent the second day I was away crawling to our front door and whining for me.  Awww!  (cute when you aren't the one that has to hear it all day!).

Lukas makes the funniest old-man-faces.  He's our little peanut.  He's been faster to hit physical milestones - he is more steady pulling himself up and has figured out how to get back to a seated position (Alex's approach is more like this: let go. hope for the best).   Unfortunately, Lukas continues to worry/frustrate us when it comes to eat - he's not interested in snack food and makes gagging noises if you attempt to eat him anything that isn't completely pureed.  Lukas seems to be more chill, but he's still easily upset by Oliver's antics and cries when Oliver carries on, which makes Oliver yell at him -- vicious circle!  Lukas will make a break for it when you open the front door. He cries when Adam, me, or our Nanny leave.
